Gainesville & North Central Florida · Under OK KOSHER
Ask us what your shul allows. We'll match it.
Every family's standard is decided by their rav (rabbi) and by the shul (synagogue) hosting the simcha (celebration). Tell us the standard you keep and we will confirm in writing, before you place a deposit, whether we hold it.
If we cannot meet your standard, we will say so and refer you to a caterer who can.

The standard first
The first question is never about the food.
It is "under whose hashgacha?" Star-K advises families to ask their shul which certifications it permits, and whether it requires Pas Yisroel or Yoshon baked goods. If that answer and the caterer's standard do not match, the food cannot be eaten — however good it is.
So we publish our specification rather than describe it. Print this page, or forward it, and your rav can give you an answer in a minute.
Questions about a standard not listed here: ask us directly.

What to look for
- 01The agency symbol, printed — not written by hand.
- 02The mashgiach's signature.
- 03The date of your affair.
- 04Displayed where guests can see it, not kept in the office.
A catered affair is certified only when the card is on the table.
Star-K states it plainly: a catered event is certified only when cards bearing the agency symbol, the mashgiach's signature and the date of the affair are displayed at the event itself. A caterer's certificate on a kitchen wall says nothing about your simcha.
We display cards at every event and we expect guests to read them. If a guest asks the mashgiach a question, that is the system working.
